NEW PROCEDURES FOR KIDNEY STONES IS TOPIC FOR FEBRUARY SUMMIT PRIME LUNCH & LEARN
February 4, 2009 During the Summit Prime Lunch & Learn seminar scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, Dr. C. Heath Hawkins, M.D., urologist at Summit Medical Center, will be discussing all aspects concerning kidney stones. The seminar will be held at 11:30 am in Classrooms D and E, located near the Visitor Entrance on the Ground Floor of Summit Medical Center.
Dr. Hawkins will discuss prevention, detection, and various treatments for kidney stones. Kidney stones are one of the most common and painful kidney disorders. About 10% of men and 3% of women will develop a kidney stone at some point in their lives. For many, stones become a chronic problem, since people who get one stone are more likely to develop others. Dr. Hawkins will educate the attendees on the advancements in technology and the latest procedures for the treatment of kidney stones.
Dr. Hawkins received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky. He completed a two-year preliminary residency in General Surgery, followed by four years of residency training in Urologic Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center. He is board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and is board eligible with the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Hawkins is a member of the American Urologic Association, the Endourological Society and the American Association of Clinical Urologists. Although trained in all aspects of general urology, he holds particular interest in urologic oncology, reconstructive urology, and minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
There is no charge for this event, and space is limited. Reservations are required and must be made by Thursday, February 12. To make a reservation, please call TriStar MedLine at 615-342-1919 or click here to register online.
